Robert Henderson Girvan, the youngest of the first John Girvan’s children, was born in Jamaica in 1842 and educated in Scotland. There are few details of his life, his work or his accomplishments.
Reports from within the extended family confirm that he died on his way home from Chapelton to North Hall, in the Parish of Clarendon. Returning from a visit to Chapelton, something happened to cause his horse to throw him from the saddle. When the horse reached North Hall, the family home, a search was undertaken immediately. His lifeless body was found.
Accident or foul play? His death caused great sorrow in the family especially since his sister Jane, estranged from her father, had already left for the U.S.A.
As far as we know, he left no issue.
