Intimate Moments With a
Patient Giant
*
In our near quarter century of life on Central Vancouver Island we have made this stop to Cathedral Grove so many times that we are considering requesting that the giant Douglas Firs adopt us as part of their family. In fact, for our part we have already adopted the biggest tree in Cathedral Grove and renamed it Dougie Firvan. You can see its importance in the life of our family by the number of times that Dougie appears in photos of our family and friends in the gallery below.
Post Scriptum: Quick calculation indicates that Dougie Firvan is approximately 7,008,000 hours old. We must have been in Dougie’s presence for at least 10 (!) of those hours in the last 23 years: which, of course explains why we feel so intensely about Dougie (hyperbole intended).

Thanks for great photos at Cathedral Grove and also enjoyed your comments re spirituality, which is certainly all around! Did you move yet? Happy Autumn. Eileen
Thanks for the Autumn greetings Eileen. We have not moved yet. We are still the possessors of a chunk of Vancouver Island’s paradise but still planning to downsize. Happy Autumn to you and your family as well.
